SOUTHERN LOTUS REGISTER MID YEAR CHRISTMAS DINNER

Saturday the 26th June 2010, saw a gathering of some 20 plus Club members at the home of Jan and Barry McFedries, who were kindly making their beautiful house available for the holding of the Clubs' Mid Year Christmas Dinner. Naturally, for this time of year the weather man dictated that it should be very cold and wet, but this was quickly forgotten, with a drink in hand and the welcoming warmth and friendly banter of members.

Theme of the evening was obvious with most of those attending having made an effort to wear something “Christmassy”. This resulted in the wearing of various types of Xmas decorations being pressed into use and draped about the body. Also many Xmas hats of various types with Jan showing off a spiral effort, Kit with his Bah Humbug and Isobel with her Tiara of Xmas balls or was that a Halo. Husband Rob, jingled as he moved, making it hard to sneak up on anyone. Ted with his “Lotus Lovers” bib and many other variations. (See photos)

Members had been requested to bring along some Xmas fare and what a beautiful spread resulted. I am sure that all went home feeling uncomfortably full. You name it, it was there, Casseroles, pizzas, potato dishes, Xmas pies, plum duff and custard, desserts of all types too numerous to mention. Serves you right if you didn't come along and partake, you missed a Xmas feast of the highest order. Jan and her helpers made a lovely job of presenting not just the food, but the entire evening. Jan is also to be commended for all the work that must have gone into decorating the rooms in customary Xmas fashion.

Of course no Xmas function would be complete without Father Xmas (or should that be Krismas Kit) making an appearance and handing out the pressies to all - pity she wasn't willing to model that little white number! Another glance at the photos and you will see Jan making a floral presentation to Carol for all her hard work over the past year. All in all, another great Lotus Club event. Special thanks again to Jan & Barry for making their home available for this enjoyable event.
