Skope Classic Car Race Meeting - February 2008

The annual Skope Classic Car meeting was held at Ruapuna Park Race Circuit over the weekend of 2nd & 3rd of February 2008.
The Skope Classic is always a great event to go along and see with fabulous classic cars ranging from the early 1950's to the present day 'having a bash' around the Ruapuna circuit.
This years' event was made even more exciting by the appearance of Seven former Can-Am race cars, including no less than four McLarens. As most race fans will know, Bruce McLaren was a true NZ and International race hero. He not only raced many different types of car himself and, at just 22 years old, became the youngest driver ever to win a World Championship F1 race but also formed McLaren Racing Ltd which went on to build race cars that won numerous races worldwide. McLaren are best known for their domination of the Can-Am motor race series in the late 60's. McLaren International is still a very successful team that exists to the present day as a top Formula One contender.
