Club Night at McGregor Motorsport

A group of around 20 club members visited McGregor Motorsport Ltd at the invitation of our club secretary and new owner of the business, Robert Snow.
Robert and business partner, Mark Roberts, are carrying on the tradition started by the original founder of the company, John McGregor, of producing Lotus Seven type replicas with a few new 'twists'.
We were shown around the factory and given a very good run-down on how the cars are put together. There were many technical questions asked which were expertly answered by Robert and Mark.
While the basic car uses various tuned 4-cylinder engines (Ford XFlow, Toyota 4AGE amongst them), one of the new 'twists' on the Seven theme is the installation of a Rover V8 engine into the Seven frame. We were shown a customer car in the shop currently having extra work done on it. This was using the Big Bore 3.9 litre version of the Rover engine tuned for near maximum power and, when fired up by Robert, produced a tremendous roar and rumble that was truly spine tingling!
After a thoroughly good tour through 'the works', we were treated to a very nice supper put on by Isobel Snow.
