Overnight Run to Geraldine - 10th May 2008

Our overnight run to Geraldine was a great success. Even though the weather forecast wasn't looking that good for the weekend, we had a sunny clear drive down to Geraldine.
Around 8 cars came on the run which worked out perfect for accommodation and the evening meal.
It was nice to see a number of new club members with us and especially good to see the guys from down South who traveled a lot further than most.
New members, Jenny and Murray Ramsay, bravely offered their accommodation (which was bigger than ours) for afternoon tea and then later for drinks before we noisily made our way over for dinner. That was a success and a great meal.
After dinner the pull of the rugby on the screen was quite strong for a number of members so the evening got quite late for them.
Sunday morning we awoke to a beautiful sunny, autumn day. Breakfast was had all over Geraldine and some lovely items of clothing were bought at the local shops. After clocking out of the Camping ground we went to the Geraldine Car and Machinery Museum. This was very interesting to see and everyone enjoyed it.
Heading home, we went via Methven where we had lunch. It was still sunny but we had had reports from family in ChCh that we were heading into rain and hail, so several of us put our car hoods up. As it happened we managed to miss the rain!
All in all, a fun and safe weekend was had by everyone.
Thank you all for making it a success.
