Club Run to Hawarden (November 2007)

On Sunday, 25th November, the Club was invited to make a run to the home of members Wylie and Sue Evans near Hawarden.
After meeting at the Belfast Tavern car park, we traveled in convoy (well nearly!) to Waipara and Waikari and from there, taking in a short but interesting section of metalled road 'beyond the black stump' to the Evan's hacienda.
There, we had an interesting collection of classic cars to view - a lovely Lotus Plus 2 and some very nice examples of a lesser mark (Triumph!)
Wylie gave us an interesting rundown on his cars which included their history and restoration as the club 'petrol-heads' studied the cars' engines and interiors in depth.
After suitably indulging in car matters, we were invited to quench our thirst (that shingle road really was dusty!) with a nice afternoon tea put on by Sue Evans.
Thanks to Wylie & Sue for a great day out.
