Lotus Europa Rolled - Again! - April 2006
In late April, a group of club members heard the heralding call to help long-standing club member/treasurer, Stuart Perry, return his Europa to the upright position after a lengthy(!) rebuild of it's lower fiberglass extremities - floor, wheel arches, engine bay undersides.
With the threat of an after-function beer and 'a great day for it'.......10 strong Lotusphiles, took no time at all to (gingerly) haul the bodyshell out of the garage and onto the back lawn and then tip it up & over with relative ease. The biggest concern was putting undue strain on the windscreen area leading to an expensive replacement but in the end, all went smoothly.
Once upright, the car was returned to it's nest again for more R&R (that's 'restoration and rebuild - NOT rest & relaxation!) on the uppermost portions of the fiberglass shell. Hopefully, this time, things will go quicker!
My thanks to: Alan Woods, George Cottle, John Skene, John Crerar, John Ives, Peter Allen, Peter Thompson, Kevin Smith, Ian Stewart (next door neighbour) and Harry Ruffell (for taking the photos). Apologies and a severe thrashing are due if I've left anyone out!
